Our Water Quality Grades Are In!

Camden Newsdrop Q1 Q2 Image03 2024

We think you’ll like what you can learn! Each year, the City of Camden Division of Utilities, operated by American Water Contract Services and New Jersey American Water, which serves Cramer Hill and East Camden, produces a detailed Water Quality Report to inform customers about how our water quality compares to established federal and state drinking water standards.

Providing clean, safe, reliable drinking water service is our top priority. We want to let our Camden customers know that your water meets or surpasses all state and federal drinking water standards, including regulations related to lead.

A Big - Junior Achievement – Youth Exploring Careers in Water Utility!

Inspiring future STEM leaders! More than 30 sophomores and juniors from Mastery High School in Camden visited American Water’s headquarters to learn about careers in water utility. The students had a successful hands-on workshop learning from many water industry professionals working in engineering, water quality, human resources, talent acquisition, and more.

Last December, The American Water Charitable Foundation provided Junior Achievement of NJ (JANJ) with a One Water Street grant to support the organization's career exploration workshop series. Junior Achievement of NJ's Career Success Workshop is a statewide initiative that connects high schools, higher education, and the business community in an effort to close the employability skills gap, build New Jersey's future workforce pipeline, and prepare thousands of students for success after graduation and a bright future.

Giving Back is as Vital as Water!

American Water believes in the importance of being a good corporate neighbor, steward of the environment and takes pride in making a positive impact on Camden. Just a few months into the year, our teams have been getting involved in the community several ways:

  • Joseph’s House and Cathedral Kitchen: As part of our 2024 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, volunteers made over 800 meat-and-cheese and peanut butter-and-jelly Sandwiches to help individuals facing food insecurities.
  • Boys & Girls Club of Southern New Jersey: Teams helped to package a week's worth of groceries for club families and decorated two bulletin boards with positivity and inspiration for both Black History and Women's History Month.
  • Center for Family Services: Employee volunteers put together over 200 Healing Through Arts Kits, which will provide art supplies and therapeutic activities to families supported by the Center for Family Services.
  • Camden Strong Clean-up: Employees spent Earth Day, alongside the City of Camden, cleaning and picking up trash in the community. This was just the first one of the season!
  • Family Fun & Fitness Day: Volunteers helped to keep families hydrated at the Family Fun & Fitness Day by handing out cups of refreshing tap water, while also having the chance to engage with the Camden community, sharing resources and information about our water services.

As part of our company’s culture, our employees are committed to volunteering and giving back to the communities we serve. We look forward to an exciting rest of the year of community service as we gear up for our annual AmerICANs in Action Month of Service in September.
