Indiana American Water Announces State Strategic Grant Award to Muncie Children’s Museum
American Water Charitable Foundation grant will support new interactive water exhibit
MUNCIE, IND. (January 24, 2023) – Indiana American Water, a subsidiary of American Water, and the American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF) today announced it has awarded the Muncie Children’s Museum a State Strategic Grant of $20,000 to help build a new water exhibit at the museum. The project includes incorporating interactive educational activities that explore the White River and local water resources and their significance in East Central Indiana.
“We’re thankful for partners like Indiana American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation who help support our efforts to educate people in the community on environmental and water issues that affect us all,” said Muncie Children’s Museum Executive Director Kynda Rinker. “This new water exhibit will examine the history, power and importance of the White River and local water resources in the area and help our youth to develop and enhance critical skills they will need for their future success.”
State Strategic Grants are part of the AWCF’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, which focuses on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities.
“The American Water Charitable Foundation is pleased to partner with Muncie Children’s Museum and organizations across Indiana American Water’s footprint to provide equitable and accessible projects and programs focused on clean water, conservation and environmental education,” said Carrie Williams, President, American Water Charitable Foundation.
In addition to the grant, which will be used to cover a portion of exhibit design, fabrication, and installation, Indiana American Water is also partnering with the Children’s Museum to provide technical support and historic materials as the exhibit is being developed.
“American Water has been involved in providing quality water service to the Muncie area for more than 135 years,” said Indiana American Water President Matt Prine. “Giving back and being a good neighbor to our partner communities is a core part of who we are as a company, and we are proud to lend support through the American Water Charitable Foundation to help expand this important education program.”
