Maryland American Water Accepting Applications for 2021 Environmental Grant Program
Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2021 and recipients will be notified in May.
Bel Air, M.D. – MARCH 3, 2021 – Maryland American Water announced today that applications are now being accepted for the company’s 2021 Environmental Grant Program. The program offers funding of up to $3,000 for innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore or protect the watersheds, surface water and groundwater supplies in the local community of Bel Air and area surrounding Winters Run.
“Our commitment to protecting the environment runs deep, and we’re proud to support the efforts of local organizations in Harford County that share our vision,” said John Walker, Operations Manager of Maryland American Water. “Everyone is responsible for protecting our nation’s water supply, and this program is one way we can help communities play an active role in this important effort.”
To qualify, proposed projects must meet the following criteria:
- Located within the Maryland American Water service area in Harford County, Maryland
- Completed between May and November of the grant funding year
- Be a new, innovative community initiative or serve as a significant expansion to an existing program
- Be carried out by a formal or informal partnership between two or more organizations
- Provide evidence of sustainability (continued existence after the grant monies are utilized)
A panel of judges will evaluate the applications based on environmental need, innovation, community engagement and sustainability.
