Maryland American Water Accepting Applications for 2023 Environmental Grant Program
Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2023, and recipients will be notified in April.
Bel Air, MD – February XX, 2023 – Maryland American Water announced today that applications are now being accepted for the company’s 2023 Environmental Grant Program. The program offers funding of up to $3,000 for innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore, or protect watersheds, surface water and groundwater supplies in local communities.
“Each year, we support community organizations that share our commitment to the environment and protecting our local watersheds and water sources,” said Barry Suits, president of Maryland American Water. “The projects and partnerships we help fund through this grant program are a testament to the benefits of collaborating to protect our natural resources.”
To qualify, proposed projects must be:
- Located within the Maryland American Water service area
- Completed between May and November of the grant funding year
- Be a new, innovative community initiative or serve as a significant expansion to an existing program
- Be carried out by a formal or informal partnership between two or more organizations
- Provide evidence of sustainability (continued existence after the grant monies are utilized)
A panel of judges will evaluate the applications based on environmental need, innovation, community engagement and sustainability. Established in 2005, this grant program has donated annually to support projects to protect and improve the environment in Bel Air, MD. Last year, the Harford County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League received funding to restore a one-acre area of wetland forest along Winters Run Watershed and Otter Point Creek.
