New Jersey American Water Marks 2023 Annual AmerICANs in Action Month of Service
CAMDEN, N.J. – OCT. 26, 2023 – New Jersey American Water employees organized 12 community service events for various nonprofits and other community organizations across the state last month through the company’s AmerICANs in Action annual month of service.
“Each year, I am humbled but not surprised by the extraordinary work of our employees and the passion they pour into our communities, especially during our AmerICANs in Action annual month of service,” said Mark McDonough, president, New Jersey American Water. “These acts of service allow our teams to work together and bond while strengthening our communities and supporting the local organizations that mean so much to them.”
New Jersey American Water’s AmerICANs in Action month of service is designed to encourage employees to lead and manage team-based volunteer projects in their local communities during the month of September and often continuing into October. New Jersey American Water employees, family members, retirees, business partners, and suppliers are encouraged to participate, donating their time and expertise through local community groups to make an impact while serving those in need. This year’s AmerICANs in Action service events included:
- Friends of Burlington County Animal Shelter: indoor cleaning and grounds maintenance, Mount Holly
- Camden Community Partnership: Camden Strong Clean Camden Campaign, Camden
- Center for Family Services: Empower Run & Walk, Mercer Co. Park, Gloucester Township, Sewell, and virtual
- Coalition for a Safer Community: Veterans Park groundskeeping and cleanup, Salem
- Community Foodbank of New Jersey: sorting, packing, and distributing, Egg Harbor Township and Hillside
- Essex County Turtle Back Zoo: reservoir cleanup, West Orange
- Feeding Hands Food Pantry: sorting, packing, and distributing, Hillsborough
- Historic Mt. Peace Cemetery: groundskeeping and cleanup, Lawnside
- Ozanam Homeless Shelter: donation and essential item drive, Edison
- Salvation Army Camden Kroc Center: Mobile Food Pantry food drive and distribution event, Camden
- Shore Saves Animal Rescue: donation and essential item drive, Freehold
- Urban Promise: event setup, Pennsauken

New Jersey American Water’s employees from its Delaware River Regional Water Treatment Plant in Delran volunteer at Friends of Burlington County Animal Shelter in Mount Holly to help care for the animals and clean the building and animal enclosures.
New Jersey American Water employees from its Fire Road Operations Center sort and pack food at the Community Foodbank of New Jersey in Egg Harbor Township.
