New Jersey American Water Offers Free Irrigation Efficiency Webinar for Irrigation Contractors and Customers
CAMDEN, N.J. – APRIL 20, 2023 – In honor of Earth Day this week, New Jersey American Water is sharing a free irrigation efficiency webinar to help irrigation contractors and customers minimize outdoor water waste this season and into the summer months. The presentation debunks common irrigation misconceptions in the industry while providing practical solutions for landscaping contractors and other irrigation users to optimize their water usage.
The webinar, which was held in late March, features New Jersey American Water representatives Lindsey Olson, Senior Director of Operations for the company’s Coastal Operating Region and Margaret Hunter, Asset Planning Engineering Manager, as well as Robert Dobson, past president of the National Irrigation Association, the Irrigation Association of New Jersey, and the New Jersey Turf Grass Association.
“With warmer, summer-like weather having arrived early this year, we know many residents and irrigation contractors are already installing and turning on their irrigation systems for the season,” said Olson. “We want our customers to know that a beautiful landscape can still be achieved without excessive water usage, and our hope is that this webinar will show how to accomplish just that.”
The live presentation was held for large irrigation users and contractors in the company’s Coastal Operating Region because of the region’s annual increase in water demand during the summer months due to hot, dry weather and influx of tourism population in coastal communities. However, because the information remains pertinent to all irrigation contractors and users across the state, the presentation has been approved for 1.5 Continuing Education Credits (CEC) in Water Conservation by the Landscape Irrigation Contractor Examining Board.
“It’s extremely difficult, if not impossible, to develop an efficient irrigation system out of one that has been poorly designed or installed,” said Dobson. “This is why it is critical to take great care in planning and executing systems that effectively and evenly water landscaping without overdoing it. Doing so will help ensure optimal conditions for landscaping to thrive while lowering water waste and costs for yourself or your customers.”
