New York American Water Replacing Water Main in Inwood
Inwood, NY (August 25, 2021) — New York American Water (NYAW) is investing $950,000 to install 3,500 feet of new eight-inch ductile iron water main and 1,000 feet of six-inch water main along Bayswater Blvd, Davis Avenue, Walnut Road, Chestnut Street and Peppe Drive in Inwood. In addition, the project will replace seven fire hydrants and 80 utility-owned services.
“New York American Water is committed to upgrading of our infrastructure and replacing aging water main is an important part of that commitment,” said NYAW Director of Engineering John Kilpatrick. “Modernizing our water distribution system improves water quality as well as system pressures for our customers.”
Work is expected to begin August 26th, weather permitting, and take approximately seven weeks to complete. Final road restoration will be completed by the Town of Hempstead’s road raising project. Work will take place daily between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Residents should note that sections of the street where construction is taking place may be closed to traffic during these working hours. NYAW will coordinate with homeowners to minimize disruptions.
NYAW is committed to the safety of residents, as well as its employees, and advises that pedestrians and drivers take caution while near work sites. Any resident with a concern or question about the planned work is encouraged to call NYAW customer service center at (877) 426-6999.
