Pennsylvania American Water Announces $2.5 Million Allegheny County System Upgrade

Water main replacement project will start this week in South Park Township

Pittsburgh, Pa. (April 2, 2024)—Pennsylvania American Water announced today that it will replace approximately 3,300 feet of water main this spring in South Park Township, Allegheny County, to improve service reliability and fire protection for residents.

Pennsylvania American Water contractors will install 3,300 feet of new water main along Snowden Road, between Connor and Felix Drives, starting April 5, weather permitting. Crews will work weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and traffic restrictions will occur during construction.

The company expects to complete the water main installation, including connecting all customer service lines to the new mains, and final restoration this summer. During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and lower-than-normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences.

Statewide, Pennsylvania American Water invested approximately $688 million in 2023 alone to improve our water and wastewater treatment and pipeline systems, supporting more than 7,000 jobs through these continued investments.

Pennsylvania American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest regulated water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and wastewater services to approximately 2.3 million people.
