Tennessee American Water Accepting Proposals for Firefighting Support Grant Program
Grants to Assist Uniformed, Professional and Volunteer Fire Departments
Chattanooga, Tenn. (October 4, 2021) – Tennessee American Water is accepting grant proposals through its Firefighting Support program, which provides financial assistance to uniformed, professional and volunteer fire departments. Grants of up to $1000 will be awarded to cover costs for equipment or training.
“We recently marked the 20th anniversary of September 11th which reminds us of the importance of firefighters in our community,” said Vice President of Operations Doug Wagner. “While we provide the water that is used in combating fires, the firefighters are the first responders who need the tools and training to keep our homes and businesses safe. The Firefighting Support Grants are designed to help fire departments meet these needs.”
Tennessee American Water has mailed applications to fire departments in the company’s designated service territories and fire departments adjacent to or supporting fire departments within Tennessee American Water service territories. Fire departments within sale for resale territories are also eligible to apply. Grant applications are due by October 29, 2021.
Grants of up to $1000 will be considered to cover the costs associated with the following:
- Personal protective gear
- Communications equipment
- Firefighting tools
- Water handling equipment, or
- Training and related activities/materials used to support community fire protection (Reimbursement for specific fire training classes, including training manuals and workbooks, is eligible)
