Tennessee American Water and City of East Ridge Hold Ribbon Cutting at New Camp Jordan Fishing Pier
Event Kicked Off East Ridge Optimist Club FREE Fishing Rodeo
Chattanooga, Tenn. (June 10, 2023) – Tennessee American Water and the City of East Ridge cut the ribbon today on the new ADA compliant fishing pier at Camp Jordan’s Dickert Memorial Pond. The celebration opened the free fishing rodeo organized by the East Ridge Optimist Club.
The fishing pier was funded by a $250,000 Water and Environment grant from the American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company.
“We appreciate Tennessee American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation for the funding that expands accessibility at the pond at Camp Jordan,” said East Ridge Mayor Brian Williams. “I look forward to seeing interest in fishing and the outdoors grow with this enhancement.”
“This partnership with the city of East Ridge brings a great addition to the community,” said Tennessee American Water president Grant Evitts. “This increased ease of access to water-based recreation for the community signifies an appreciation for the outdoors that helps grow good stewards of our natural water sources.”
The East Ridge Optimist Club hosts an annual fishing rodeo at Camp Jordan for youth in conjunction with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency’s statewide annual free fishing day. The Optimist Club promotes a love of fishing and the outdoors to local youth and recognizes the largest and smallest fish caught as well as other prizes.
