West Virginia American Water Continues to Receive Non-Detect Water Quality Samples in Huntington; No Drinking Water Advisories in Effect

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Feb. 18, 2023) – West Virginia American Water continues to monitor water quality for its Cabell and Wayne County customers following the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.

Water quality testing indicates that all water leaving the Huntington Water Treatment Plant meets state and federal drinking water guidelines as established by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ Bureau for Public Health (BPH) and the U.S. EPA. As of the latest sample results, chemicals from the spill remain non-detect based on ORSANCO’s testing methodology at the company’s Ohio River intake.

West Virginia American Water remains in close communication with ORSANCO regarding water quality sampling data. Visit the ORSANCO website for the latest testing information.

In cooperation with the BPH and ORSANCO, the company will continue to monitor quality and, should the need arise to issue a drinking water advisory, customers will be notified.
