West Virginia American Water Invests $620,000 in Princeton Infrastructure Upgrade Project

Princeton, W.Va., (Oct. 17, 2024) – West Virginia American Water announced today an infrastructure improvement project to replace approximately 1,400 feet of water main on Hale Avenue in Princeton. The company is investing approximately $620,000 in water infrastructure improvements with this project.
Work has already begun and includes replacing the aging 6-inch water main along Hale Avenue. The construction zone is from Center Street to North Walker Street along North Walker Street from Hale Avenue to Low Gap Road. These upgrades will improve service reliability for customers, which will help reduce service disruptions.
"West Virginia American Water's continued investment in the enhancement of our water infrastructure aligns with our commitment to the citizens of Princeton,” said Mike Webb, Princeton City Manager. “These improvements not only safeguard public health but also bolster the City's resilience in the face of growing environmental and critical infrastructure challenges.”
Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. The company expects to complete the water main replacement and connect all customer service lines to the new main by the end of October.
This infrastructure upgrade project is part of West Virginia American Water’s plan to invest more than $97 million in infrastructure upgrades across the state in 2024. In addition, these projects help support the economic health of the communities served by West Virginia American Water. Economic impact studies show that for every $1 million invested in water infrastructure, upwards of 15 jobs are generated throughout local economies.
